San Diego County Equestrian Foundation

Mission Statement

Our mission is to protect Equestrian Community’s rights and preserve Equestrian, as well as, other related recreational uses within San Diego County in coordination with the County’s General Plan and associated regulations. We will provide support to Equestrians and share ideas with community planning groups in their efforts to protect Equestrian and other related recreation uses in their individual community plans, in an effort to bring the entire County into alignment. A primary goal of our organization is to facilitate much needed changes to the County’s outdated Zoning Ordinance as it relates to definitions of equestrian facilities and the processing of equestrian facility permits.

Our organization will provide a forum for the group to act as one voice on behalf of all of San Diego County’s Equestrians including, but not limited to residents, seasonal residents, and visitors.

We seek to maintain an open and productive dialogue with the County Board of Supervisors, County staff, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, California Department of Fish & Game, San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board, and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and any other related agencies. In addition, we will assist these agencies in their efforts to identify and implement much-needed changes to the County’s permitting process for equestrian facilities.
